ASP Nov. 8, 2015

Project Pearls ASP Helping Land, Tondo, Manila Nov. 8, 2015 “This is the dialectic - there is a very short distance between high art and trash, and trash that contains an element of craziness is by this very quality nearer to art.” ― Douglas Sirk For this day, we continued the making of different Christmas decorations using recyclable materials. Younger kids – those who are in the kinder and grade 1 level had a different activity. They had an art activity wherein they have to write or draw on a little bell-shaped paper the things they want for Christmas. The said papers will be pasted on a bigger bell-shaped paper. So yes, it’s a bell collage! Some volunteer-teachers assisted the little ones. Together with the other volunteer-teachers, older kids were divided again into four major groups. The first group was assigned to do the nativity scene (belen), then the second group created some colorful Christmas lanterns, the third one made some colorful Christmas balls and angels using cut water bottles. And the last group made the Christmas tree out of woods and plastic bottles. Through this activity, children’s creativity and imagination were boosted. We would like to thank FEU’s Institute of Internal Audit for being our sponsor for this day. God bless you! As Albert Einstein said, “Every child is born genius.” Rachel Carson then said, “If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in.” Children are universally seen as being pretty creative, whilst us adults, struggle to recall how we did it, all those years ago. If we can learn from them, if we can regain their open wonder and talent, what new ideas we could bring into the world!
